Cooper's First Haircut

Well, as I said in the previous post, Cooper was scheduled for a shearing on Friday, and he got one.  Carrie and Lori said that he was really good, and he even got to watch a movie while he was getting clipped.  They gave him a cookie cutter, a balloon, and let him go down a slide.  He had a blast!  You can see new pictures posted in the photo album on the right.

This morning, the Operation Brightside cleanup went really well, and we finished our portion in under two hours.  We got a lot accomplished.  On my drive home, I saw lots of the Operation Brightside trash bags set on the side of the road, so I guess this was their designated weekend for everyone to pitch in and help out.

UK played a boring game last night, which, since they won, I guess is good.  No excitement, just got ahead and stayed there.  I hope that's what UofL does this afternoon.

Dinner at Buca di Beppo was great last night, and dessert, coffee, and the game here at our house was even better.  The Hoerter's and Briney's joined us after dinner, and we all watched the game together.  Good times.

I got a nap this afternoon, Carrie is about to take one I think, and Cooper is relaxing watching a movie at the moment.  I'm feeling a little better, Cooper sounds somewhat better, and the headache that Carrie has had for the past two days is going away.  The UofL game is coming on in about 45 minutes, and we don't have any obligations until church in the morning.  So, for now, all is right in the world of the Crouches.  We hope that you all are doing even better.

More Cooper Pictures

Just a few more pictures of Cooper and Jack.  Just as I suspected and alluded to in a previous post, I think these pictures are the only reason that people keep coming back here, so I have to keep putting them up every now and then.

Carrie's going to be mad at me

She's out of town tonight, and I was supposed to post some sweet, innocent, action photos of her son, but I didn't. Instead, I posted some meaningless drivel about a church event, that she already knew about, since she was there. All I can say is, "Sorry Honey." I didn't take any pictures of Cooper tonight. I got home from church, gave him a bath, and put him to bed. And now that I'm sitting here writing this, I've suddenly realized that neither Lori nor I gave him his nightly bottle. Woops. Oh well, he sure didn't protest going to bed for the night, he was tired. And so is dad. I guess if he wakes up hungry in the middle of the night, I'll just give him his bottle then. I'm betting that he sleeps all night though. He'll be hungry in the morning!

Nobody puts baby in a corner

For you old fogies, that's a reference to a very famous movie, but I'll let you figure out which one on your own. Start by asking someone younger than you.

Anyway, it's also very fitting for this post, because last night, Cooper started crawling! Gone are the days that we can put him down on a palette somewhere and trust that he'll stay there if we happen to walk away for a minute. I had put him in his crib for a nap, but he just didn't want to fall asleep in there. So, I picked him up, carried him to the living room, and tried letting him rest reclined in my lap. Well, he was absolutely all over the place, legs and arms pushing and rooting everywhere. So, I just put him on the floor. He rolled and played for a few minutes, and the next thing I knew, he was doing the "wounded soldier" crawl into the kitchen. He was so proud of himself, you could see it on his face. I was just a slight bit proud myself.

I promised that I would write about the Valentine's Banquet, and I am still going to, but last night didn't go as planned for me. After Carrie got home from school, we talked for a few minutes while she ate dinner and I reclined on the couch. That was about 10:00. About 12:15, Carrie came and told me it was time for bed. Apparently I had fallen asleep talking to her at some point, so she just let me sleep. I knew I was tired, but I didn't know I was that tired.

So, anyway, I haven't forgotten you, and maybe tonight will be the night. Carrie flies out for North Carolina this afternoon, and comes back late on Thursday. So I have Cooper duty, solo, for the next few days. It should be fun!

Gratuitous Cooper Pics

In order to keep people coming back to my little corner of the web here, I realize that I'm going to have to actually give them what they're looking for. And since, as of right now, I think the only people that are even popping in here every now and there are Cooper's grandparents and greatgrandparents, I get the feeling all they want to see is Cooper pictures. My intention was to put up some really nice pictures of the Valentine's Banquet that Carrie and I attended last night, but we found that candlelight was not conducive to very good digital pictures. So, without further adieu, here are pics of Cooper. The one in the crib was made Friday morning. He was standing in his crib and was very proud of himself for simply that, standing. So, Carrie snapped a picture of him. In our personal opinions, his facial expression is priceless, but we're slightly biased. The other picture was made this afternoon, about twenty minutes after I had given him a blueberry cereal bar for a snack. He was an absolute mess. I laughed. Cooper laughed. Carrie didn't laugh.

        

    

Cooper Update

Carrie took Cooper to the doctor today, just for a "fluid on the ear" checkup. He had had some problems back about a month ago, and they just wanted to see him to make sure that everything had cleared up. The doctor said that both ears looked fine, and that he looked like a healthy baby boy. We already knew that though! We've started him on some table food, and chunky baby food. At daycare today, he had pancakes for breakfast and tater tots for lunch! I'm thinking that's probably why he weighed in at a hefty 22 lbs. at the doctor's office today. That's up a pound and a half from 1 month ago. The boy's a chunk. I'm fairly certain that the only reason he's not walking yet is because his "undercarriage" drags the ground. He's all head and gut, with little chubby protrusions where the arms and legs are supposed to be. But I say he's not chubby, he's just cherubic.
