Summer Vacation - Day 3

What is summer vacation without fishing :)  After resting on Saturday morning and just hanging out, we had an early dinner so that we could load the van and head to a local park to fish.  The boys were so excited!  We even stopped to get live bait!  Jack was the big winner with four fish that night!  And, did I mention that there were hot air balloons flying over the park?  Really close...it was a beautiful night!

Collin's favorite part of fishing is playing with the worms and chewing his Big League chewing gum that he got for his birthday!!

It was a big night for Momma too...I caught my first fish!!  Woohoo!

We ended the night with warm chocolate chip cookies and milk!  We were not ready for our weekend to come to an end.  We did enjoy some yummy donuts on Sunday morning in our pajamas and were able to have a family devotional before we packed the van to take Jack back to West Kentucky.

Summer Vacation - Day 2

If anyone knows me for very long, you know that I keep a very detailed and full schedule most of the time.  And, the first few days of summer vacation was no exception!  After visiting the sights of Louisville on Thursday, the family plus Jack and some friends loaded up the van and headed to Holiday World!!  It was a pleasant day with cooler temperatures in the morning...a perfect start to the park rides!  After lunch, we headed into the Splashin Safari Water Park where all three boys had a great time in the Tiki Wave Pool.  The older boys even enjoyed some water coasters!  

Needless to say, we were all exhausted by the time we returned to Louisville!  It only took Collin less than three minutes to fall asleep once he walked in the door...he he

Summer Vacation - Day 1

We had a jam-packed first day of summer vacation!  The boys got out of school on Wednesday afternoon, and we loaded the van to head to West Kentucky to pick up a special visitor!  To celebrate his 5th Grade Graduation, we invited Cousin Jack to come spend the first four days of summer vacation!  And, I packed our itinerary FULL of fun activities.  

On Thursday morning, we headed downtown to visit the Louisville Slugger Museum.  Cousin Jack is a big baseball fan, so he really enjoyed the H&B Factory Tour.  They were even manufacturing Major League bats during our tour...how cool!  Through the summer, the Slugger Museum has a Baseball Lego Exhibit too.  The boys are posing in front of the Wrigley Field.

After enjoying lunch at Hard Rock Cafe, we took a Trolley Ride down historic 4th Street.  Jack even got to see the famous Louisville Clock!

On Thursday evening, we took Jack to the Louisville Riverbats Baseball Game!  It was a beautiful evening, and the boys enjoyed lots of treats!

As the sun was beginning to set, we left the ballpark and headed to the new Big Four Pedestrian Bridge over the Ohio River.  Did I mention what a beautiful, summer evening it was that night?  It was my first visit to the bridge, and it was breathtaking.  I really enjoyed soaking in the Louisville skyline at night.

We made it to the top of the ramp!  A quick pose before we start the trek over the river!  Notice the bike lane in the middle of the walkway...that is the path I took since I am not crazy about heights!  

What a great way to end our first day of summer vacation!!  Check back soon for more pictures of our Day 2 adventures....

 

 

Poetry Cafe'

Last Monday, Cooper's 3rd Grade class hosted a Poetry Cafe' as their end of school year celebration!  It was an awesome afternoon, complete with poet berets and chocolate covered bruschetta!

He was also awarded the Rock Star in Math award from his classmates!  And, he earned a certificate signed by the Superintendent for participating on the Quick Recall team.  He was the only 3rd grader that made the team!!  What an AWESOME 3rd Grade year!  Thank you Mrs. Jordahl for a fun and rewarding year!
