Our family enjoyed watching the city prepare for the 139th running of the Kentucky Derby on May 4th! It is so much fun living in the City of Louisville during this time. Collin had a Derby project at school that required him to capture stories and pictures from all of the Derby Festival activities. As part of his project, a fellow Kindergartener took him to Dawn at the Downs on the Tuesday before Derby! What fun memories!
On May 1st, Cooper's class loaded the buses and headed Downtown Louisville for a Scavenger Hunt. I joined him and his class buddies for a fabulous tour of the city! We had a great time! Be sure to check out the album for more pictures!
You can see the Belle of Louisville behind us...it was getting decorated for the Great Steam Boat Race later that day! Did I mention that the city was buzzing with Derby activities?!? Cooper reported that this was the BEST field trip ever!
The boys enjoyed a day off of school on Oaks Day, and then we loaded up on Saturday morning and headed north toward Cincinnati to visit the Creation Museum. What a fun day! Mim and Pop along with our friends, the Mortons and Balls, joined us too! We enjoyed a leisurely tour through the museum and a lovely stroll through their garden area before heading back to Louisville.
The following week, both boys had more field trips! Collin went to the Louisville Zoo and to Stage One to enjoy "Charlotte's Web". Cooper's class went on an adventure to the Falls of Ohio and to the Portland Museum. We ended the week with their final Spring Soccer games. They both had great games!
We are preparing for the last few weeks of school! Cooper is taking the K-PREP standardized tests this week. He is working hard, and I know he would appreciate extra prayers as they have another day of reading tests followed by his favorite subject, Math, on Wednesday and Thursday!
It is hard to believe that their Kindergarten and 3rd Grade school years are coming to a close. We have been blessed with great teachers! I will post end of year pics soon!
I agree with Cooper ... that had to be the coolest field trip ever! That looks like a trip the chaperones could enjoy as much as the kids. And Dawn at the Downs??? Go Collin buddy! That had to be awesome. Cooper and Collin are very fortunate to have so many rich resources in close proximity. And I love those soccer smiles! I'm sad that I didn't get to see any of their games this year. I hear they both had outstanding seasons!
