Swimming Lessons

Tonight ended the last swim lesson for Collin.  He has been great for all of the sessions, so I had the camera out with Andy at the side of the pool all ready to take lots of pictures of his last official swim lesson.  I even had the battery fully charged this time, unlike Cooper's last class, where I was only able to get one picture!

This was a super tot class, so a parent gets in the pool with the tot.  It helps if the tot gets in the pool with you...

For the first time, Collin REFUSED to get into the pool.  Instead, he walked away touting, "Pop's house, Pop's house."  The instructor even tried to convince him to get into the pool....

But, no such luck!

Andy finally gave up and headed out with Cooper.  He finally warmed up after 20 minutes, mind you this is a 35 minute class, with a small bottle of bubbles and a song in the pool.  And, he got his official certificate for completing the course.  Then, we headed straight for Pop's house!

Our Saturday Adventure...

by CB
We did find Holiday World on Saturday.  We started out the day at the Splashin' Safari water park.  It started out with a Collin meltdown after we were all changed and ready to go.  Andy had gone to secure the backpack in a locker while the boys and I hung out on a bench in the shade.  Collin was already unhappy about me leaving to go change Cooper, so when he peed in his swimmy and it ran down his leg and all over Momma's shirt, he was NOT happy.  Daddy finally weaved through the crowd and found us so that we could make yet another trip to the bathroom.  And, that starts our adventure at Holiday World.

The Lazy River was our first stop and that seemed to settle everyone down.  Collin and I took a second trip down the river while Andy and Cooper headed down some big tube ride.  We spent some time in the kiddie pool area.  We then headed to Monsoon Lagoon where the boys had a blast.  Collin was fearless and headed straight for the slides.  After a short break and some lunch, we headed to the Wave pool.  Keep in mind that it is now approaching 3:00 p.m. and Collin has refused to take a nap at this point.  After enjoying the wave pool, we decided to get changed and head back into the park.  The boys rode some kiddie rides, and we took an ice cream and water break under a shade tree.  Did we mention that it was extremely hot on Saturday?

Collin and I hung out in the shade and kept splashing water on his face and neck while we watched Daddy and Cooper on a spider ride.  Collin was about out when he started crying.  I sat down with him under a shade tree and then the fun began...

Yes, Collin did not keep his lunch down.  Luckily, a very nice HW attendant was walking by at the very moment Collin got sick.  So, she helped us get to the First Aid station where it was cool.  We applied cold rags around his neck and within 5 minutes, he was out.  All was well until 30 minutes later when he finished throwing up the rest of his lunch.  There were no trees around at this point, so Momma got covered!  At that point, we decided we better head back to Louisville.  I started getting a migraine and was hoping I could make it home before I got sick.  No such luck.

I am glad to report that Collin and Momma are much better today.  We are enjoying the AC indoors today as we recoup from our adventure.  Daddy and Cooper plan to go back another day to visit the rest of the park when it is about 20 degrees cooler!  I have posted some pictures in the photo album if you would like to check them out!

More Projects

Whew!  This crew has been very busy with projects lately.  First up, Collin has officially transitioned OUT of the nursery and into a big boy bed complete with lizards and frogs!  The room is still a work in progress, but here are a few pictures of the new room:

We still have some moving around and rearranging of shelves and some minor painting, but Collin has been very excited about his new room.

Cooper has also been busy with some projects.  He decided to purchase another Star Wars Lego set on Saturday night.  After nap on Sunday afternoon, he began his project and worked non stop for FOUR hours until it was completed....Whew!  But, it is one cool Droid Fighter!

Collin thinks it is pretty cool too!

Wowza

Cooper and Collin are in the bath right now.  Collin is crying because I told them both to quit playing with the water faucet.  That sets the stage.  Cooper just said:

"Dad, if there was a coyote in here right now, I don't know what I'd do.  But if there was something in here that, like, I don't know, laughed or something, that would not be good, because Collin is crying."

Blank stare from me.  I have no idea.....I don't even say a word, I just look at him......

"You'll just have to watch Lion King, dad."

"OK"

For the record, I've seen Lion King.  The "laughing coyote" could possibly be the hyenas, but what that has  to do with taking a bath and Collin crying, I have NO CLUE.

Lego Mania!

Many of you already know that Cooper is more than a little fascinated with Legos.  Over the course of the last month, he has been graduating to smaller projects and putting these projects together by himself.  He started out with Lego Racers and has collected six of them so far!  He saved his play money and sold some toys in our neighborhood yard sale and bought the Anakin's Jedi Starfighter today.  It took him 2 hours and 15 minutes and he had one very cool starfighter! (FYI - check out the age range on the box!  This boy loves his Legos!)

You asked for it.

You like Cooper quotes, so here's one.  Carrie and I were discussing watching the NBC West Wing special on TV tonight.  Cooper, from a room away, yells into us: "I want to see the President too!  I want to see him shoot some pirates!"

All good Presidents leave a legacy....shooting pirates might be Barak's, at least in Cooper's mind.

Quote of the Day

From my good friend Rachel, who in a random comment today said:

"A clean house is a sign of a wasted life."

I like it.  I'm not sure that that is exactly what John Piper meant when he wrote his book, but still - I like it.

What's your name?

A really interesting article as it relates to baby name trends.  Be sure to click through the link titled "The Baby Name Wizard", you'll want to spend a few minutes playing with that one.

What do an engineer and an accountant do for a good time?

We dress like flappers for a night out on the town, that's what.

Flappers

A few weeks ago Carrie yelled at me while she was on the phone and asked if I wanted to go to dinner at some friends' house.  Not one to ever turn down a dinner invitation, I said "yes" without a second thought.  It wasn't until afterward that I found out it was a "Murder Mystery" dinner, and later still that I found out that we were to look the part when we showed up.  I was "Barry Marquette" (Bear Market) and Carrie was Anna L. Retinov (Anal Retentive).  Good times.  Note the tie that came with the outfit.  Swank.  Carrie even had on fishnet hose.  Hubba hubba.

As it turned out, we had a great time, and I even figured out who the murderer was before it was revealed.  I'm thinking about wearing the outfit to church on Sunday, what do you guys think?
